Throughout their journey at TWSI, our students are inspired to discover and pursue their passions and potential. From the second term of IGCSE 10/MYP 5/ Grade 10 onwards, we encourage our learners to use a career guidance platform to identify their subject interests, set academic goals and explore their personal preferences. At this juncture, they also take an aptitude test to help them discover their flair for potential career avenues and domains.
From IBDP 1/ AS level/11th Grade onwards, learners are encouraged to map their profiles with country interests and explore the eligibility criteria of various courses offered by universities worldwide before shortlisting them. At this juncture, they are also encouraged to independently build their university portfolios by:
- Honing their academic writing and citation skills
- Developing their outreach and volunteering skills and experiences
- Exploring summer internships or summer school programmes
- Making the most of the school’s extra curricular activities and involvement opportunities
In IBDP 2/ A Level/ Grade 12, students consolidate their efforts and begin working on their statements of purpose and brag sheets to make requests for letters of recommendation from the school through the career guidance platform. The school then issues letters of recommendation on a discretionary basis based on student attendance, conduct, participation in outreach activities and extracurriculars as well as academic performance.
Parallely, students may also opt to appear for SAT examinations with the school as a registered center. By mid-October of the IBDP 2/ A Levels/12, students apply for Early Decision. The school supports such applications with the necessary transcripts as well as the issue of predicted grades to universities. Later applications, including end of January applications are similarly supported by the school.
